Our modular home arrived yesterday and is being placed on the foundation today! We should be able to move into it within 6 weeks. We designed it so that it will be handicap accessible. All the doors are 30" wide, the halls are wide and the floorplan is very open to make it easier to navigate in a wheelchair. Aliyah's bedroom is right next to our bedroom and both open onto the Master Bath which has a roll-in shower. The kitchen is easy to enter and exit with an island in the center. It has an overhang so Aliyah will have a place to sit and help out if she is able. The upstairs will be unfinished, but our plan is to move the boys up there in a few years, so that we can have a therapy room downstairs for all her equipment. The huge crane arrived just about an hour ago. This is what I heard as I was making breakfast in the kitchen.
“Aliyah, do you want to watch? Do you want to watch? You want to watch our house being built?” said Nathan in his sweet, big brotherly voice. “Mom! Is it OK if I put Aliyah in front of the door so she can watch the crane?”
Aliyah brings beautiful things out of people. It warms my heart.
Wonderful! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help :) So excited for you!
ReplyDeleteExciting!
ReplyDeleteWe also have talked a lot about what we will do about making a house handicap friendly. Keep us posted on how that goes for you! We can learn from each other :)
